Installation
Picked out the perfect plants but don’t want to handle the digging? We’ve got you covered! At McKinley Garden Center, we offer professional plant installation to help ensure your trees, shrubs, and perennials are planted correctly and set up for long-term success.
What We Install
We offer installation for:
-
Trees
-
Shrubs
-
Perennials
Whether you're planting a single tree or updating an entire landscape, we’re here to help get it in the ground the right way.
Our Approach to Planting
We believe proper planting starts with strong roots.
Following guidance from Purdue Extension, we focus on planting your material correctly in your existing soil rather than heavily amending it. In some cases, we may incorporate peat moss to help with moisture retention, but our goal is to encourage roots to establish naturally in the surrounding soil.
After planting, we apply Fertilome's Root Stimulator to help promote healthy root growth and reduce transplant stress. At the end of the day, healthier roots lead to healthier plants and better long-term results in your landscape.
Usage of peat moss and the first application of Root Stimulator are included in the price of installation.
What to Expect
Our team will coordinate a time that works for your installation. We handle the digging, placement, planting, and initial watering and fertilization so you don’t have to. We’ll also make sure you have a clear understanding of how to care for your plants after installation.
Pricing
In most cases, you can expect labor (including delivery) to be no more than half the cost of the plant material. Our minimum fee for installation is $150 regardless of the cost of your requested plant material. Final pricing may vary depending on plant size, quantity, and site conditions, but we’re always upfront about costs before scheduling.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
-
We are a planting-only service. We do not remove or haul away existing plants, trees, or materials
-
Installation availability may vary based on season and workload
-
The planting area should be accessible and ready prior to installation
-
Additional charges may apply depending on site conditions
-
New trees should be planted at least 10 feet away from any previous tree location (even if the stump has been "ground out") to ensure proper growth and long-term health
If you’re unsure about spacing or site prep, just ask! We’re happy to help guide you.
